The following letter will be sent home with all students…
March 3, 2015
Dear Parents/Guardians of Huntsville Public School;
As you may be aware, our school was placed in hold and secure today due to an incident in the community. When there is a threat to the school from outside the building, staff and students go into hold and secure. Doors are locked, blinds are closed, and lights are turned off. Normal classroom activities are maintained. (This is not the same as a Lockdown which is used when there is a major incident or threat of school violence within the school)
There were many police and other vehicles parked near our school while we were in hold and secure so your child may have been aware of increased activity outside the school. Your child may want to talk about today’s hold and secure at the school. Any reaction is normal and I would encourage you to discuss with your child their reactions and feelings. Safety is our number one priority at our school and we are glad to have procedures in place to quickly respond when to a situation in the community when required.
Please call the school office if you have any questions or concerns about your child.
