Dear Parents and Friends;
The most rewarding part of everything that is happening here at HPS is the togetherness, the camaraderie, the team work, and the spirit and heart that goes into planning and carrying out the events.
When we did a head count, almost every single person in the building contributed to the Open House for our new French Immersion students and families. Students, teaching and support staff, and parents all played vital roles in the evening. The Open House was a huge success for which we are still receiving thanks and praise.
The upcoming musical production of Annie Jr. keeps many, many staff students and parents busy, both on the stage and in the background.
Our 125th birthday bash on June 7 is gathering steam and is scooping up more people to help as it rolls along.
A very successful Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser just this past week was spearheaded by two of our awesome support staff but eventually involved our entire school community, both inside and outside of the school.
There is hardly a period of time that our sports teams and coaches are not practicing or playing.
There is a robotics team and there are YWCA self- esteem building meetings and there is much more.
And, you should have seen the incredible anti-smoking event that our “Helping Hornets” student government team coordinated with the help of school staff, parents and the local health unit!
Character is the foundation upon which everything in school life is built. It is the backbone and heart of all that we do and all that we learn. Does HPS have heart? Spirit? Character? Does HPS simply ROCK? You be the judge
Principal, HPS
