Huntsville Public School Parent Council
Student Government Report (Robin Hisey)
-a cheque in the amount of $300.00 was sent to Free the Children from fundraising activities
-H.P.S will be hosting a dance on June 1 Riverside senior grades have been invited to attend. A Paris theme has been chosen
-the yearbook is coming along great and Parent Council has been asked for a write up and a photo to be included in this years book
-the smoking presentation that was held at the school went very well
125th Birthday Party June 7, 2012 and end of year celebration
-plans are coming along very well the event will run from 5pm to 7pm
-the evening will start off with a hamburger and hot dog BBQ
-there will be ice cream and popcorn
-there will be a dunk tank and lots of carnival games
-there will be music
We are looking for people that could help out that night from the set up, BBQ, helping with the carnival games and the clean up at the end of the night
please let Jennifer McCague, Deb Hill or Mary Wright know if you can help out that night. If you have any other suggestions for the night please let one of us know. It will be a great night. See you there.
Mr. Jewiss let us know that the Board has given us funds to be used for the 125th Birthday Celebration.
Spirit Wear Orders
-these went out and were due back to the school for May 10
-the orders will be in before the BBQ
Annie Production
-the cast, crew and the all the background people have been very busy getting ready for performances
-these will be held at 7pm on Tuesday May 15 and Thursday May 17
-tickets are $5 a piece
-the Parent Council will be running the refreshment table at the intermission on both nights
-we will be selling water, coffee and cookies
-Pam has sent out e-mails asking for donations of cookies for both of the nights any help would be greatly appreciated
-we are also looking for a few volunteers to help out with the sales on both of these nights
Parent Reaching Out Grant
-Pam has a respect presentation booked for K-grade 3 for May 22 at 2pm, this will run approx 45mins
Tree Planting
-Jennifer McCague has been working on the Toyota grant for planting of trees, she went over the full details of the paperwork process and advised that we require student involvement with this process
-she was going to talk with the teachers to get the involvement
-deadline for submission is June 1
Parkette Plans
-it has been advised that for the parkette the fence will not be moved
-plans are moving ahead well with the town
Fundscrip
-we will be running this in the month of May orders will be in by the beginning of June
Teacher Luncheon
-May 23 please mark this on your calendar and if you can help out that would be greatly appreciated
Principal Report (Mr. Jewiss)
-the transition committee has been working towards the move for September
-it is not known yet about the staffing for next year
-the question was asked if the present teachers at HPS were going to be able to stay and the answer was yes
-grade 3 and 6 testing will happen at the end of May and the beginning of June
-tutors have been available to help get the students ready
