HEALTH LUNCHES

Packing a healthy school lunch

A school lunch should give children the energy and nutrients they need to
get them through an active afternoon.  When planning lunches keep these tips in mind:

  • Include at least one serving from each food group from Canada's Food Guide
  • Rather than buying pre-made lunch kits, make your own healthy "lunch kit" with divided containers and small 'bite-sized" crackers, cheese cubes, left over chicken chunks, veggie sticks or fruit slices
  • Get your kids to eat more veggies...send cucumber coins, zucchini sticks and pepper strips with dip
  • Don't drink your fruit...send water instead.  Save the 100% fruit juice for home

For more information you can call Your Health Connection at 721-7520 or 1-877-721-5720 and speak with a public health nurse or click on the health unit website at www.simcoemuskokahealth.org.

MILK / JUICE

Milk/Juice

White and chocolate milk will be available each day of the week, beginning on Tues. the 7th.  Periodically during the year our milk program will be holding “Milk Prize Surprise” Days. Students will have a variety of prizes to choose from. Stay tuned !!!

Orange and apple juice will also be sold.  All beverages are $.75 each.

Mrs. Mar would like to know if there is an interest in buying tickets for milk sales???

Please let Mrs. Mar know if you would consider buying 10 tickets for milk for $7.00 instead of bringing cash each day to school for milk.

Please let Mrs. Mar know.

Thanks !

Head Lice

Head Lice

Periodically throughout the year, we will be having school-wide Head Lice checks at HPS. Trained parent volunteers will be checking all students in the school, class by class. It is the TLDSB Policy that any child found to have head lice will be excluded from school until the first shampoo treatment has been completed and the nits are removed. Your parents will be called to take you home if you have nits or active lice. An information video on head lice is available to borrow from the school along with information brochures on head lice and how to treat them. Parents, we will inform you if anyone in your child's class gets head lice. Please help us out at school by regularly checking your child's head for nits. Finding and treating head lice early will stop the spread of head lice in children. Furthermore, a pediculosis consultant with TLDSB is available for guidance.
