On April 17, Grade 7/8 students from across the Board travelled to I.E. Weldon Secondary School to compete in the elementary Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Skills Ontario Qualifier event.
Students focused on the construction sector, and were tasked with preparing, designing, and building a scaled down version of a house with a set amount of materials.
At the end of the competition, the team of students from Fenelon Township Public School received first place and will move onto the Skills Ontario Provincial Event taking place in Toronto on Monday, May 1. Gravenhurst Public School’s teams placed second and third.
TLDSB also has elementary students competing in the robotics, television and video, and construction sectors this year at the provincial competition.
