Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year, Hornet families!
We are thrilled to introduce ourselves as your new administrative team at Huntsville Public School. As your new Principal, Aaron Emms, and Vice Principal, Laura Clark, we are incredibly excited to join this wonderful school community. Supporting your children, watching them grow, and working alongside our dedicated staff and families is our top priority, and we know this is going to be a fantastic year together.
To help you prepare for a smooth start, here are key details for the upcoming school year:
First Day & Teacher Information
- Teacher Announcements: Parents and guardians will receive a School Messenger update on Thursday, September 3rd, with the name of their child’s classroom teacher.
- First Day: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
- Greeting & Homeroom Finder: Staff and teachers will be outside on the yard on the morning of September 8th to warmly greet students and guide them to their new homeroom teachers.
Bell Times, Supervision & Arrival
- Morning Yard Supervision: Begins at 8:20 AM. For safety reasons, please ensure students do not arrive or get dropped off before 8:20 AM.
- Entry Bell: 8:50 AM
- Dismissal Bell: 3:10 PM
Dismissal & Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures To ensure the safety of all students, minimize classroom interruptions, and allow classes to safely use our outdoor spaces until the end of the day, please note our pick-up guidelines:
- Wait Outside the Perimeter: All parents and guardians waiting to collect students at dismissal must wait outside the fence at designated exit points rather than waiting on the school yard or inside the school building.
- Keep Yards Clear for Instruction: Physical Education classes and outdoor activities run right up until the end of the day. Please do not gather on the yard early, as unattended toddlers, pets, or visitors crossing through active outdoor spaces can create safety risks during games and instruction.
- Indoor Access: Please refrain from waiting inside the building or in front of the office at dismissal time. If you need to sign your child out early, please come directly to the office.
Transportation & Parking Safety
- Bussing Information: Routes and schedules are available on the My Bus to School app and website. To add a student to your account, you will require the student’s 9-digit Ontario Education Number (OEN) found on their report card, as well as their date of birth, school, and grade for September 2026
- Bussing Inquiries: Our main office will be open on September 2nd and September 3rd to assist with any bussing questions.
- Drop-off & Parking: Parking at HPS can be limited. Please keep our students safe by avoiding designated bus loading zones, parking only in permitted locations, and watching carefully for children walking.
Mark Your Calendars
- School Photo Days: September 14th and 15th. More details regarding your child’s specific photo day will be shared soon.
